Next time you stay at a Hilton you may find your concierge looks somewhat different to the norm.
You may find that no longer will the concierge be smartly suited and booted with a dapper haircut. At Hilton you could be received by Connie, a pint-sized Star Wars-like robot with a high voice.
Connie, named after Hilton’s founder, Conrad Hilton will work alongside Hilton’s human team to answer questions about their experience and assist with local restaurants and travel plans.
Currently, Connie is undergoing training at a pilot scheme at the Hilton Mclean in Virginia. Connie is standby at the reception learning to interact with guests and respond in a friendly way with relevant information. The more the robot interacts with guests the more it learns, adapts and improves especially with regards to the recommendations it offers. The robot taps into WayBlazer‘s database to offer travel recommendations.
The project is a joint effort with Hilton and IBM who have installed Watson technology to enable Connie to achieve seamless cognitive and intuitive skills.
