Built in 1958 by the legendary inventor of the Bellini and owner of Venice’s iconic Harry’s Bar, the Belmond Cipriani Hotel dominates the approach to Giudecca Island, overlooking the Venice lagoon, with its unique views of St Mark’s Square. Stepping in the footsteps of many a celebrity, you land from your private launch and are welcomed by liveried staff into lush gardens, filled with fragrant flowers and shrubs.
This is a veritable oasis, a world apart, yet only seven minutes from the noise and bustle of St Mark’s Square. Enter the cool, marble floored entrance, lit by sparkling chandeliers and decorated with pedestals of tropical flowers, antiques, gilded mirrors, sumptuous furniture and furnishings and works of art and you will know you have arrived somewhere very special.
