When it was launched five years ago, no-one imagined it would pop up every year on a ski resort. Yet Adelboden’s Engstligenalp golf course will be opening again next month.
At other times of the year this tract of land is either used as a ski resort or as grazing land for cattle during the summer months.
Golfers only have a short window of time (Septmember 10th and closing on October 25th) to swing by this 18-hole course on Golf Mountain. By teeing off amid streams and rocky outcrops and swirling mountain winds and changeable weather conditions – bright sunshine could change in a heart beat to dense cloud – this could prove quite a challenge.
Nevertheless it’s a stunning location around 1,964 metres reaching into the sky, making it the highest golf course in Europe and as it is also a nature reserve there’s sensational views over the village of Adelboden in Switzerland.
